EQT Foundation
Breakthrough Startups
From the EQT Foundation Fund, we invest in solutions with the potential for meaningful impact within climate & nature and health & wellbeing, focusing on transformative innovations with strong potential to scale. Our investments provide catalytic capital to early-stage companies tackling systemic challenges, helping them bridge critical funding gaps and accelerate their path to market.

The EQT Foundation fund
The EQT Foundation Fund is an evergreen investment vehicle designed to support deep science and pioneering technology with patient, flexible capital. Unlike traditional funds, it operates without fixed timelines, allowing long-term engagement with ventures that require extended development cycles.
Structured as a Swedish investment company, it is controlled by Stiftelsen EQT Foundation and capitalized by its Members, who are senior Partners at EQT or Alumni. The Fund invests in solutions that align with EQT’s thematic expertise, providing not only capital but also strategic insights, industry networks, and scaling support.
Investment focus and due diligence
In climate and nature, we prioritize technologies that contribute to Net Zero by 2050 or significantly reduce biodiversity loss. In health and wellbeing, we seek innovations that either reach large underserved populations or deeply impact specific medical challenges, with a strong focus on deep tech solutions.
Each investment undergoes rigorous due diligence, assessing impact potential, technological novelty, business model viability, scalability, and risk factors. Instead of relying solely on financial metrics, we track companies through milestone-based progress assessments.
Climate investments are guided by The Climate Brick, a structured manual for scaling climate tech solutions, while health investments are evaluated through tailored frameworks informed by EQT Life Sciences expertise.
Beyond capital: how we support founders
The EQT Foundation Fund provides strategic support, industry expertise, and access to the EQT network. We match portfolio companies with dedicated deal teams comprising EQT professionals with sector-specific knowledge. These teams work closely with founders to navigate scaling challenges, refine strategies, and secure key partnerships.
Our companies also benefit from the global EQT network, including over 500 Industrial Advisors and 300+ EQT portfolio companies, offering valuable connections and mentorship. By combining capital, expertise, and strategic partnerships, we help climate and health innovators turn bold ideas into market ready solutions that can potentially drive meaningful change.
Climate & Nature

We invest in breakthrough innovations that protect and regenerate our planet. From decarbonization to biodiversity, we focus on solutions that address root causes, not symptoms. This means backing bold technologies that accelerate the energy transition, enable circular and regenerative systems, and help restore ecosystems at scale.
Current approaches for harnessing rare metals are energy-intensive and environmentally damaging. Emerging technologies are exploring cheaper, more efficient alternatives, including novel approaches to producing synthetic or substitute materials. Artificial intelligence (AI) is also playing a critical role in this shift, enabling faster material discovery, precise modeling, and accelerated experimentation. By reducing development time and cost of experimentation, AI-driven innovation in nanomaterials could unlock a more scalable, accessible green transition.

Tissue Engineering: Building the Future of Medicine
Tissue therapeutics is a rapidly developing field with the potential to transform regenerative medicine, offering curative treatments for chronic diseases and addressing the limitations of traditional transplants. By leveraging bioengineered tissues and advanced laboratory techniques, scientists are developing functional replacements for damaged organs and tissues, creating alternatives that are more accessible and scalable than donor-based solutions.
We support science-driven innovations that improve health outcomes and quality of life, especially for underserved communities. Our focus spans early detection, precision prevention, and equitable access to care, always seeking catalytic ideas that shift healthcare from reactive to proactive, and empower individuals to live longer, healthier lives.
As tissue engineering matures, its applications are extending beyond regenerative medicine into areas that could shift healthcare from disease management to prevention, and even reversal, offering a new frontier in how we approach human health.
