José Sotto Mayor

José joined EQT Partners in March of 2024 as Head of Strategic Capital.

Prior to EQT, José managed the family office of a prominent Southeast Asian family, investing in PE, VC, and Infrastructure opportunities. He began his career in investment banking at Morgan Stanley and J.P. Morgan followed by distressed debt and private equity investing at two hedge funds. During the European sovereign debt crisis, he advised the Portuguese government alongside the former Head of the IMF in Europe, Antonio Borges.

José holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a BA in International Economics & Management from Bocconi University
