EQT appoints Patrick Rodden as Head of Infrastructure Australia and New Zealand
EQT is pleased to announce that Patrick Rodden will join EQT in Sydney where he will head the Infrastructure Advisory Team for Australia and New Zealand.
Patrick has deep experience in the regional private infrastructure and equity markets and comes most recently from the Carlyle Group in Sydney where he was a Director focusing on buyout opportunities in Australia and New Zealand. Prior to that role he was a Director at the private equity firm CHAMP for 10 years, and he started his career with JPMorgan in its energy and infrastructure investment banking division.
Patrick will assume the role from current Head of Infrastructure Australia and New Zealand, Ken Wong, following Ken taking a broader regional role as Head of Infrastructure for Asia Pacific. Patrick will be responsible for managing EQT’s ten strong Infrastructure Advisory team based in Sydney.
His appointment reflects the substantial growth EQT is experiencing in Australia and New Zealand, having signed over AUD 5 billion of deals over the last two years – including the acquisition of Stockland’s Retirement Living portfolio, the country’s largest cancer care provider Icon Group and New Zealand based Metlifecare.
Ken Wong, Partner and Head of EQT Infrastructure Asia Pacific, said, “We are thrilled to welcome Patrick to EQT. His strong experience in the Australian and New Zealand infrastructure and private equity markets goes hand-in-hand with EQT’s local-with-locals philosophy and it will further bolster our Sydney team. We are seeing increasing amounts of compelling investment opportunities in the region and Patrick’s background makes him an excellent fit to lead EQT’s Australian infrastructure team.”
Patrick Rodden, new Head of EQT Infrastructure Australia and New Zealand, said, “I am honored by the confidence EQT has placed in me and I am excited to contribute to the firm’s continued growth in Australia and New Zealand, together with my new colleagues.”
This follows the announcement in March 2022 that EQT’s Private Equity business line will join forces with BPEA at completion of the proposed merger in a move that reinforces EQT’s commitment to the Asia Pacific region.
