After opening its first office in Asia more than 10 years ago, EQT now has local feet on the ground across its three regional offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai. During this time, EQT funds have deployed more than USD 1.2 billion in capital across 19 portfolio companies in Asia.

Today, EQT employs a diverse group of around 40 professionals across three offices in Asia. The regional teams, with backgrounds in 10 different nationalities, function as an extended leg of EQT’s “local with locals” approach and the native know-how is a real advantage for deal sourcing processes in the region. The diverse teams, coupled with the firm’s Nordic values rooted in the Wallenberg heritage, make up a unique value proposition that really sets EQT apart in Asia. In addition, EQT utilizes a network of more than 40 local Industrial Advisors across Asia that help the investment advisory teams to capitalize on current market trends and investment opportunities in the region.

Martin Mok, Partner and Head of EQT Asia comments: “The recent closing of EQT Mid Market Asia III, EQT’s third Asia-dedicated fund, provides new fire powder for EQT to pursue new investment opportunities in the region. After receiving commitments of approximately USD 800 million from a diverse investor base, the fund has the mandate to make control and co-control mid-market investments throughout Greater China and Southeast Asia and it further demonstrates EQT’s long-term drive and commitment to the region.”

EQT Mid Market Asia III has closed five investments to date. The most recent - China Shine, was announced in August 2018, and is a fast-growing facility management service provider with a focus on the Chinese market. The company offers general cleaning, support, building maintenance, security and integrated facility management services across China and is well-positioned to capitalize on attractive growth opportunities in the under-penetrated and highly-fragmented facility management market in China. Previous Mid Market Asia III investments include: Long-Spring Education, GPA Global, ILA Vietnam and Clinical Innovations.

Martin Mok, Partner and Head of EQT Asia, concludes, “Today, EQT is happy to announce that we are releasing a Chinese version of the 2017 EQT Annual review, covering the firm’s and funds’activities over the past year. The Chinese annual review is an important and transparent action to further tell the EQT story in this fast-growing region – now available to an even larger crowd.”
