EQT acquires remaining 50% of shares in Duni

EQT Northern Europe Ltd ("EQT“), the Investment Manager of the EQT Northern Europe private equity fund, has acquired 50% of the shares in Duni AB from the Bonnier Group, which continues to concentrate on its media business.

Duni is now 100% owned by the EQT Scandinavia I fund, which acquired 50% of the shares in 1997 from the Bonnier Group, and the EQT Northern Europe fund. All necessary regulatory approvals have been received, and the transaction was completed on 27 September 2001.

The Duni Group is a global market leader in concepts, services and products that enhance the eating and drinking occasion. The Company manufacturers and markets high quality products for the high-end tabletop and serving industries (with products such as napkins, table-covers, single useable and rotable eating and serving products and candles) for the professional, retail and travel markets. The Company had sales of over SEK 6.6 billion in 2000. It has operations in 30 countries and employs approximately 4,700 people. Key manufacturing sites are located in Sweden, Germany, Benelux, Thailand and the US.

Göran Lundberg, former Executive Vice President of ABB, has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of Duni. The senior debt is arranged and underwritten by Commerzbank AG, SEB Merchant Banking and Svenska Handelsbanken AB, and the mezzanine debt by Intermediate Capital Group PLC and SEB Merchant Banking.
