EQT sells approx. 4 million UPC shares
In the beginning of this week, EQT Scandinavia (“EQT”), sold its holding approximately 4 million shares) in United Pan-Europe Communications (“UPC”), the Amsterdam based cable television, telephony, and high-speed internet provider.
The shares where part of the payment of UPC’s acquisition of Stjärn-TV, the leading cable and high-speed internet provider in Stockholm, in July 1999. The newly issued shares were made available to EQT in late August, and represent approximately 1% of the total share capital in UPC. EQT is a private equity fund acquiring controlling stakes in private companies, hence, the ownership in UPC was not in line with EQT’s mission.
