Michael Johnston

Michael Johnston is a Director at EQT Private Capital Asia, where he oversees the deal origination function across the region and leads mid-market deal sourcing in Australia and New Zealand. He originates and assesses investment opportunities for EQT's Asia Flagship and Mid-Market funds. Based in Sydney, Michael builds EQT's origination coverage through founder, sponsor, corporate, and adviser relationships, and works on cross-border opportunities connecting Asian and ANZ businesses with EQT's global platform. Michael joined EQT in 2024. He holds an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management at the University of New South Wales and a Bachelor of Business from Queensland University of Technology. He also holds a Graduate Diploma of Applied Finance from FINSIA and is a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
