Matt Praske
Matt Praske has served as the Director of Sustainability Innovation for EQT Real Estate since February 2022. He is responsible for defining the objectives and executing the strategies necessary to develop a market-leading ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) platform. Collaborating with various teams throughout EQT Real Estate, Mr. Praske works to create value across all real estate investments.
With over a decade of real estate sustainability experience, Mr. Praske was previously the Director of Energy & Sustainability at Wash REIT from February 2014 to February 2022. There, he managed all aspects of ESG for the organization’s portfolio of office, multifamily, and retail properties. His responsibilities included overseeing the company's energy management program, renewable energy projects, climate risk assessments, diversity & inclusion initiatives, green building certifications, and health & wellness strategies.
Further to this, Mr. Praske was in charge of tracking and disclosing the company’s ESG performance through reporting frameworks such as GRESB, the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board, and the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures.
Mr. Praske is also an industry leader outside his primary roles. He chairs the Better Buildings Alliance Commercial Real Estate Steering Committee, co-chairs DC’s Building Energy Performance Standards Task Force, and actively participates with the Urban Land Institute, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association (“NAIOP”), and the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (“NAREIT”) sustainability committees.
Mr. Praske graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a BA in Government & Politics. His strong academic background coupled with his extensive experience in the field of sustainability make him a significant contributor to EQT Real Estate's sustainability efforts.
