Alexander Fred-Ojala
Alexander Fred-Ojala is Head of AI at EQT Ventures, where he leads the internal AI team building platforms, models, and agentic systems that power EQT's early-stage tech investment process all the way from sourcing and screening to portfolio support. He also brings over 15 years of deep AI and technical expertise to deal teams across EQT and advises portfolio companies on AI strategy.
Before EQT, Alexander was Research Director of the Data Lab at UC Berkeley (SCET, College of Engineering), where he led industry-academia collaborations, co-created and instructed the Applied Data Science course, published AI research, and co-founded the Berkeley Blockchain Xcelerator. He has founded multiple AI and tech companies (Predli, MasterExchange), been a Venture Partner at Nineyards Equity, and angel invested in AI startups. He continues to teach as a Global AI Instructor at UC Berkeley's SCET.
He holds an MS in Mathematical Statistics from Lund Univertsity and UC Berkeley, and a BS in Engineering Physics from Lund University, and was awarded the Amazon Alexa Innovation Fellowship as one of ten faculty members globally.
Outside of work, Alexander loves tinkering with frontier technologies, playing tennis and chess, and being a dad of 3. Most importantly, at the peak of Angry Birds hype in 2010, he was ranked #2 in the world.
