The Most Diversified Vacation You’ll Never Take

EQT’s extensive global investment portfolio – across private equity, infrastructure and real estate – means you’re never far from an alternative tourist destination.
- EQT’s extensive portfolio means you’ll never be far from one of its investments, no matter where you travel this summer.
With summer in full swing, we’re thinking about alternative tourist destinations, as well as alternative investments. EQT’s portfolio spans hundreds of investments in companies, infrastructure and real estate across dozens of countries. So if you get some time to travel this summer, you’ll never be far from one of EQT’s many sites.
Anyone can stare at Stonehenge or line up at the Louvre. Consider this our tongue-in-cheek guide to livening up your international travel with some lesser-known attractions.
Europe
If visiting EQT’s home patch of Sweden, make time for Stockholm’s wonderful Vasa Museum to marvel at the best-preserved seventeenth-century ship anywhere in the world. While there, you won’t be far from the headquarters of Candela, a maker of modern electric boats backed by EQT Ventures. You’ll also be able to take an autonomous electric ferry operated by Torghatten, a division of Nordic Ferry Infrastructure, another EQT investment. Unlike the ill-fated Vasa, which sank less than a mile into its maiden voyage in 1628, Candela and Torghatten’s vessels are much more seaworthy.
If you have time to extend your trip, a couple of hours north of Stockholm you’ll find the majestic Tönsen wind farm, one of many across the Nordic region developed by OX2, which joined EQT’s portfolio last year. The project’s 27 glistening turbines tower above the pine forests of central Sweden, offering the perfect backdrop to your family vacation photos.

While driving the Wild Atlantic Way, a 1,600-mile road trip along Ireland’s ruggedly beautiful west coast, you’ll pass through Galway City, home of medical device developer Perfuze. This Irish company is working on products for stroke treatment and has been part of the EQT portfolio since 2022. It’s just a 10-minute cab ride from Perfuze’s offices to the Crane Bar, considered one of Galway’s finest pubs, for a swift pint of Guinness.
The Americas
If you’re one of the more than 60 million people expected to visit New York City this year, why not take a break from the Big Apple bustle to ride the train west from Penn Station to humble Rahway, New Jersey? Near the Union County Performing Arts Center, you’ll find the Union County Resource Recovery Facility, a plant operated by EQT investment Reworld that generates electricity from waste otherwise destined for landfill. It’s just one of more than 90 Reworld facilities across North America.

Even farther west across the continental United States is Colorado’s beautiful Rocky Mountain National Park. Not far away are the offices of Zayo, an EQT-backed provider of communications infrastructure based in Denver. While the national park features some 300 miles (483km) of unspoiled hiking trails, Zayo has laid more than 19 million miles of fiber optic cables since its founding in 2007.
Asia Pacific
Nestled in the heart of Southeast Asia, Singapore has grown from a colonial port to a vibrant city of more than 6 million souls. If you’re able to spend a couple of days exploring Singapore, be sure to grab at least one meal at one of its famous hawker centers, where you can sample cuisine from many different Asian cultures under one roof. If Singapore charms you and you want to extend your stay, you’ll find thousands of apartments listed on PropertyGuru, another EQT portfolio company.

Cross the Java Sea from Singapore and you’ll find a genuine EQT-backed tourist attraction. Indesso is Southeast Asia’s largest independent producer of natural flavors, fragrances and food and wellness solutions. This 57-year-old Indonesian company has built a four-story visitor center in Baturraden, Indesso’s first manufacturing site. Displays provide information about aromatic plants, sustainable sourcing and the production process. As one Google reviewer remarked, you can “learn a lot about essential oils here.”
