Impact Pitch Night at Takeoff Tokyo
Breakthrough science takes the stage in Tokyo’s global innovation arena.

About
Held as a side event at Takeoff Tokyo, the Japan Impact Challenge brought EQT Foundation’s deeptech pitch series to one of the world’s most sophisticated innovation ecosystems. Startups developing bold, science-based solutions in climate and health pitched for €100,000 in catalytic funding and the opportunity to join EQT Foundation’s global portfolio. In front of a live audience of founders, funders, and frontier thinkers, Tokyo’s next wave of impact entrepreneurs made their case for scale.
EX-Fusion won the challenge for its pioneering work on laser-based nuclear fusion technology. A spinout from Osaka University, EX-Fusion is developing a next-generation fusion reactor system using ultra-precise lasers for safer, smaller-scale, and more accessible fusion energy. By addressing the engineering bottlenecks in traditional fusion, their approach could one day enable decentralized, zero-emissions power. EQT Foundation backed EX-Fusion for its bold scientific ambition, strong academic roots, and potential to transform the future of clean energy.
