When do applications open and who can apply?: Applications open on September 2nd 2025 and close on October 1st 2025, 11:59pm CET.
You are a scientist (PhD student, Postdoc, PI, Professor):
Part of an academic or non-profit research organization.
You are planning or currently conducting research for rare diseases.
Researchers globally are eligible.
What type of research do we fund?: EQT Foundation is awarding grants between €25-100K to support novel research aimed at tackling rare diseases.
Who will make the grant decisions and what criteria will they use?: The EQT Foundation Team, EQT Foundation Grant Committee and subject matter experts will review the applications. All will sign an NDA to ensure the confidentiality of your work.
Applications are reviewed on the quality of project design, the potential impact on the field, translational potential, the technical project plan, and the ability of the applicant to execute the proposed research.
What can a grant be used for?: The grant can be used to partially fund your research.
In the application form, you will be asked to provide a statement with the breakdown of what it will be used for, with the costing estimates of each item.
Who owns the IP?: EQT Foundation will not claim any rights to your intellectual property. You and your institution will retain full ownership.
