Thijs Bakker

Thijs Bakker has been working with EQT since 2018.

He currently serves as Group CFO and Board Member at Azelis Group NV, and is a member and Head of the Audit Committee at both Oterra A/S (Denmark) and OEM International AB (Sweden). He also acts as Executive Advisor in EQT’s CFO Practice, in the Finance Transparency Practice for EQT portfolio companies.
With a career spanning over two decades, Thijs has held senior finance and commercial roles across Europe, the Americas, and Asia Pacific in industries including life sciences, ingredients, industrial chemicals, automotive, and coatings.

He has extensive experience in M&A, post-merger integration, digital transformation, and strategic finance under both listed and private equity ownership structures. Key milestones include leading many acquisitions and integrations, overseeing over 100 ERP implementations, spearheading the IPO of Azelis in 2021, and playing a pivotal role in multiple LBO transactions.

Thijs holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam and post graduate degree in Accounting and Controlling from Rotterdam School of Management.
