Headquartered in Ridgewood, New Jersey and founded in 2016, Scale is a leading vertically integrated developer, acquirer, owner, and operator of microgrids and distributed energy resources for commercial & industrial, EV fleet, data center, municipal, university, hospital, and agricultural customers, developers and communities. Scale has built a portfolio of >200 MWs of operating and in-construction assets, with another 2.5 GWs of near-term pipeline and deploys a variety of technologies including solar, battery storage, natural gas generators, fuel cell and combined heat and power, and its portfolio currently represents one of the largest microgrid portfolios in the US.

Advanced DER and microgrid adoption is at an inflection point driven by major energy industry tailwinds, including rapid load growth from data centers and fleet electrification, grid congestion, power constraints, and increased frequency and duration of extreme weather events, all of which increase the value of solutions that offer resiliency, time-to-power, and cost savings.

Investment potential

Scale is highly thematic to the EQT franchise and represents EQT Transition Infrastructure’s first investment in North America. EQT’s partnership is expected to grow Scale's net positive impact on society and continue enabling the ongoing trend of energy decentralization, while addressing the significant rise of corporate ESG goals. Additionally, expansion of Scale's operations nationally will support further development of infrastructure, allowing for increased penetration of renewable energy.
