What is the Challenge?

According to recent studies, approximately two-thirds of women feel guilty when feeding their babies with substitutes to mother’s milk – even though there are a lot of cases in which mothers are forced to do so due to various circumstances. Some parents do not have the option to feed their children with human milk, and others would like to opt-out of it, in spite of taking into consideration that it is the healthiest nutrition for their newborns.

What is the Solution?

BIOMILQ is developing an alternative to breastfeeding that offers much of the nutrition of breastmilk without the trade-offs of today’s limited infant feeding options.

BIOMILQ collects a sample of a user’s mammary cells and cultures them in a bioreactor. Eventually, the cells start to create milk just as they would usually in a woman’s breast. Next, BIOMILQ collects and tests the milk before sending it on to the family to nourish their baby.

This option allows all parents to access the nutrition of human brest milk without the hassle and discomfort of breastfeeding.

Babies benefit since they are drinking human-derived milk instead of other milk alternatives, and mothers are empowered by being freed from the disruption of breastfeeding or pumping.

The team is also set on driving down the price point so that their product and service will be accessible to people of all backgrounds.
