About

Established in 2022 and headquartered in Palo Alto, California, Voltera is an owner and operator of EV charging infrastructure with a mission to make zero-emission transportation for fleets at scale a reality. Voltera provides turnkey fleet EV charging infrastructure to customers by acquiring real estate, setting up power connections, and procuring chargers and charge point operation software. Voltera sites are primarily situated in locations where EV fleet operators have access to key population centers and logistics hubs.

Market Trends and Drivers

While the EV charging market is still nascent today, EV penetration in the US is expected to increase materially over the next decade, which will require the development of EV charging hubs for mass adoption. Development of charging infrastructure is essential for the mass adoption of EVs across US vehicle fleets as the lack of charging infrastructure, lack of power at existing sites, and the difficulties and high costs associated with building the infrastructure in-house are key obstacles for fleets with plans to roll out electric vehicles.

Investment Potential

The Voltera investment is a highly thematic to EQT, facilitating EQT's direct participation in the EV industry. EQT Infrastructure will support Voltera as it scales its business and expands site development across North America. EQT’s investment enables Voltera's position as a leading provider of “Infrastructure-as-a-Service” for zero-emission fleets of different types and sizes.
